Tasting Notes: Bright aromas of ripe strawberry, cherry, rose petal and subtle notes of black tea and spice. The palate is silky smooth and loaded with flavour. The juicy fruit notes of strawberry and pomegranate are supported by good acidity and a judicious use of oak which gives the wine a warm, toasty character.
An unusually warm winter and spring droughts led to earlier budbreak and lower yields while record heat waves during growing season resulted in a higher concentration of fruit flavour in the grapes. Those same conditions led to uncontrollable wildfires in late August and early September. Thankfully, The Path completed harvest before the fires and the smoke arrived, so the wines weren't ever in jeopardy of getting smoke tainted. The 2020 vintage wines have greater depth, more complexity and unique aromatics compared to previous vintages.
