Tasting Notes: Sangiovese comes in many guises in the hands of Italian winemakers and this is given the classic treatment with the added bonus of organic status. Dense, ruby red in colour, intense flavours of juicy black fruit and jam like qualities with undertones of spices, liquorice and violets. Harmonious and silky tannins give a well structured body with a luscious, fruit back palate leading to a long lingering finish.
Cantine Volpi`s wine-making premises are located in Viguzzolo, just outside the Piedmontese town of Tortona. Giuliano Noè has been responsible for the technical side for many years, always aiming at further improvement in the quality. When the wines have completed their initial period of development, they change surrounding for their subsequent maturation and ageing. The cellars where they complete their maturation are located in the out-skirts of Tortona, where an extensive variety of ageing barrels, stainless steel, large Slavonian oak casks and small French oak barriques are used.
