Vaquero Wines lies in the exceptionally picturesque surroundings of Monterey County to the south of San Francisco in California. The region is one of exceptionally low rainfall, requiring irrigation from the underground Salinas River which supplies a plentiful source of water. The landscape takes the form of a large and rolling valley (known locally as the salad bowl) which is open to the Pacific Ocean to the west, and Vaquero produces their range of wines from traditionally grown varieties including Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon for which the region is well-known.
