Textured and complex. Ripe tropical fruits with floral & pepper notes
More Info
Tasting Notes: An intense nose that's perfumed and a little tropical, and the palate is soft, with moderate acidity, denoting a warm year. Full of ripe tropical fruit, grapefruit, subtle pepper and floral notes. Textured and complex on the palate, yet satisfyingly refreshing with tropical fruit and vanilla.
The pale, young and lively 2017 Akemi was produced with Viura grapes from the village of Quel, close to Alfaro, where the winery is located.
The wine is very perfumed and fruit-driven despite its five months in oak barrels. It was selected by sushi master Félix Jiménez from the Kiro Sushi restaurant in Logroño and bottled with a Japanese label (it looks like a bottle of sake), with a name that means brightness and beauty.
He says it's “a white from Rioja with a Japanese spirit.”
