Château d’Astros, a 9th generation family-owned-and-operated, Certified Organic Côte de Provence producer.

Founded in 1802 in the heart of the Var Region in Provence, Château d’Astros is a family-owned wine estate steeped in history. The estate has 1680 acres of preserved nature, 198 acres of vines, 25 acres of apple trees, and two castles from the 13th and 19th Century. The estate has an individual climate with the Mediterranean climate tempered by the proximity of the Argens River. This is a hidden jewel of Provence, and their core range has not been represented in the UK Market before. The Chateau d’Astros family have been mastering their Côte de Provence since 1960. The signature ranges – Augustine, Amour, and Absolu - are fresh, elegant and complex expressions.

In 2017, Château d’Astros began their organic conversion and achieved classified organic AOP Côte de Provence in 2020, a decision that reflects the family’s commitment to being good stewards of the land by practicing sustainable viticulture. Bruno Maurel, managing director, 8th generation, says, “to serve Astros, its nature, its territory, all those who work there, and its customers, is the vocation of our family.”

Provence is an important wine producing region in southern France. Named by the Romans as provincia nostra ("our province"), the region produces white, red and rosé wines from a wide variety of different grape varieties. Rhône varietals such as Syrah and Grenache perform particularly well in the warmth of the Mediterranean sun, and the region is particularly renowned for its high class rosé wines (such as Bandol or Côtes de Provence), and also lesser known but equally high quality, spicy, dense red wines. White wines are produced in smaller quantities.
