Tasting Notes: A fresh, dry white wine with a delicate lemon colour, displaying intense floral, guava and citrus aromas. Succulent tropical fruit on the palate which is balanced by crisp acidity. Chenin Blanc can often be overcropped, producing thin, somewhat weedy wines. This wine is the exact opposite. Packed with intense flavours of fresh Bramley apples and a touch of quince jelly this is unoaked and finishes with a delicious creaminess and lovely zingy bite
Vines are mostly old bush vines (average age between 20-30 years), planted at a density of approx 3700/ha. Soils are deep red Paardeberg soil. No irrigation is used on the vineyards and very little crop control is needed due to the age of the vines naturally restricting yield. All grapes are harvested by hand. Produced only from free run juice and fermented on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The wine is left on the fine lees for an extended period for greater palate weight and mouthfeel.
