Tasting Notes: Aromas of ripe red fruits - cherries & damson. A dry wine that has sweet juicy fruits with fresh herbs and liquorice, subtle tannins - a deliciously elegant wine.  Allow a little breathing time before drinking for the full range of flavours to open up. A traditional style Dolcetto.

Du Riva is the top example of the Dolcetto grape variety from the Dolcetto di Ovada Superiore DOCG appellation. Here the Tacchino family own 50 year old vines, grown at 300m altitude in south-east facing vineyards. After fermentation in stainless steel, the wine is then aged in new 225ltr French barriques with no expense spared. This wine is deep and richly concentrated, aromatic and made to age.

For more than three generations the Tacchino family has produced superb fresh and vibrant wines in Castelletto d'Orba in Monferrato, Piedmont. This is perfect wine country as the hills provide a natural amphitheatre which protects the vineyards from the northerly winds. Today brother and sister duo Alessio and Romina run the Tacchino estate, blending a respect for traditio with modern winemaking methods and a rigorous attention to detai to produce a range of wines of outstanding elegance and purity. Tacchino's vines are spread over 25 hectares, about half of which benefit from a south/south easterly aspect. Great care is taken to restrict yields.
