Tasting Notes: The 2020 vintage is classic claret, with notes of red cherries, tobacco and spice; it combines high quality and Margaux typicity at a bargain price. One of the best vintages for many years.
Located in the heart of the Margaux district, Chateau Les Barraillots estates abut Chateau Margaux itself. Established in 1928 by Ferdinand Brunet, a cooper who worked at Margaux; he bought parcels of vineyards from Chateau Palmer in 1928 and from Chateau Dufour in 1933 in order to make wine for his own consumption. Succeeding generations have expanded by planting more vineyards. Ferdinand’s great-grandson Yannick, has been managing the property since 2002. The vineyards are planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the average vine age is 40 years.
